The valley is also remarkable for its curative thermal waters. The daily volume of water coming from 18 sources is 4.5 million liters. A special factor is the presence of radon in water and air. According to the doctor's instructions, radon baths are taken in the spa centers or special departments of the hotel spa complexes. The valley of Ottztal is one of the largest regions of Alpine skiing and is known for its highest mountain resorts in Austria. Sölden (1,377 m), Vent (1,900 m), Obergurgl (1,930 m) and Hochgurgl (2,150 m), Hochselden (2,050 m) are the record holders for attendance and are second only to popularity after Vienna.
The valley of Ottztal itself has a unique variety of natural landscapes: flat sections of the valley are replaced by steep canyons with mountain rivers and glacier tops.
